White crown

A crown is a protective cap for your tooth - it attempts to protect a large filling or any thin remaining walls of natural tooth from breaking (when a filling gets too large in a tooth it can weaken the remaining structure). A crown may also be needed if you have broken a piece from the side of your tooth in order to protect your tooth from cracking again.

As well as strengthening your remaining tooth a crown can also help improve the appearance of your teeth. We can improve the look and position of front teeth or perhaps change a large silver filling in a back tooth to a nice white smile again!

Crowns for back teeth are normally made with a core of gold to provide strength. Don’t worry though you won’t see this, as they then are built up in white porcelain to make a tooth that you will have difficulty distinguishing from your other natural teeth.

For front teeth we can also make crowns with no gold underneath. This improves the way the light shines through them, making them look even more natural. We use a state of the art material called zirconia to achieve this which is made by a computerised 3D milling machine to fit your tooth.

Fee guide for a white crown £720.
